The hardware key protects your investment and ours, and allows multiple people to use the software without violating the license agreement. Your PTW software will include one of these keys, and will not run without it. However, once you have installed the key, you can forget about as the key does its job automatically.
·Download and run HASPUserSetup.exe from here: https://www.skm.com/download/SKM_Network_Files.exeExtract the files, look for the Lmsetup.exe installation file and run it.
*For both installation, leave all options as default.· Attach the hardware key to the server. (You may attach the hardware key to a workstation instead of the server, but you must keep that workstation turned on anytime another workstation wants to use PTW. Since users typically turn off their workstations when they leave work, we recommend that you put the hardware key on the server, since servers usually remain on at all times. Whichever you choose, though, remember that the computer with the hardware key must be turned on and the NetHASP License Manager must be broadcasting for PTW to run.)
· Open a browser and go to
http://localhost:1947/_int_/devices.html (You should see your hardware key listed here).
Part 2: Getting the software to see the hardware key
Installing PTW on the workstation:
1. Downloading the Installation File for PTW
Go to https://www.my-skm.com/ or https://skm.com/ and click on the My SKM box on the top right. Log in using your my-skm credentials. If you don't have an account, email sales@skm.com and send in a request to add your account to your license. In the email, make sure to state your license / serial number. Do not create an account by yourself as your license will not be tied to the account and you won't be able to access the downloads.
Once you are logged into your my-skm account, click on the License Box.
After, you will see a Download Software button.
If your company has many licenses with us, it may not show it initially and instead show a search bar. Simply search for the license using the serial number or press the magnifying glass button to display all license under the company.
From there, you will need to click on the Power*Tools Version Full Software to download the installation file.
2. Installation Process
Once the PTW32_V*_Installation_Files.exe is downloaded, run the installation.
During the installation, most fields you will not have to modify and can leave as default.
(Note: If your computer does not have sufficient privileges, you will have to right click on the installation file -> Run as administrator. If not run as administrator, you will get a CKeyNT - Access Denied error during the installation process.)
3. Installing the USB Key Drivers and Setting Up for the Network License (Local Workstation)
If your workstations will run PTW using a shortcut to the shared server or computer, you only need to perform the following steps on that machine.
If your workstations will have PTW installed to locally, you need to repeat these steps on each workstation which has PTW installed.
Install the Drivers for the License Key on the Workstation:
·Download and run HASPUserSetup.exe from here:
*Note: This step is done on both the workstation and the server that is hosting the license.
Setting Up the Configuration Files in Your Software Folders:1. Go to the C:\PTW32\BIN folder and look for the NETHASP_.INI file. Rename from
NETHASP_.INI to NETHASP.INI, removing the underscore. After, go to the C:\PTW32\LIB folder and rename the NETHASPIP.INI file to NETHASPIP_.INI.
2. Go back to the bin folder and double-click the NETHASP.INI file and open it with Notepad. Remove the semi-colons from the following for lines and input the server IP address in the NH_SERVER_ADDR section:
You can also delete the contents in the nethasp.ini file and copy and paste the following:
[NH_COMMON]
NH_TCPIP = Enabled
[NH_TCPIP]
NH_SERVER_ADDR = xxx.xxx.xx.xx
NH_TCPIP_METHOD = TCP
NH_USE_BROADCAST = Disabled
*Replace xxx.xxx.xx.xx with the IP address of the server
3. Save the NETHASP.INI file and close it.
4. Start PTW on the workstation. When prompted, select Network Hardware Key and the licensed modules that you have purchased.
5. If PTW does not run, you will need to conduct an aggressive search in the Sentinel Admin Control Center:
With HaspUserSetup.exe installed, open a web browser and go to http://localhost:1947 Click on Configuration > Access to Remote License Managers.Enter the server IP address and click on Submit.Wait 1 minute and check to see if a key with Vendor ID 45805 is populated under the Sentinel Keys tab. Once you can see the key, start PTW. When prompted, select Network Hardware Key and the licensed modules that you have purchased.
*If you are using an older version of the HaspUserSetup.exe drivers, perform the following steps:
Enter the server IP address, check Aggressive Search for Remote Licenses, and click on Submit.Wait 1 minute and check to see if a key with Vendor ID 45805 is populated under the Sentinel Keys tab. Once you can see the key, start PTW. When prompted, select Network Hardware Key and the licensed modules that you have purchased.
Monitoring the Hardware Key & Users
The monitor program enables you to see the list of License managers available on your network. It also displays the list of user login to the hardware key.
To install the monitor program, run the AKMMON32_SETUP.exe in your SKM_Network_Files folder that you extract from the Complete PTW Network Files download.
Use the Monitor program to check if your workstation has access to the hardware key.
1. Open the AKS Monitor program
2. The Monitor Window appears:
The Monitor program displays the selected License Manager information
3. The monitor program displays the list of users accessing the network HASP hardware key.
The following table contains the program number along with the corresponding study module.
What if I Want to Use the Network Key Temporarily as a Local Key?
Occasionally you might want to use the network hardware key locally—for example, if you have a laptop computer and want to take the key home. You can install PTW on the computer as you normally would, but once PTW is installed you will need to install the standalone driver for the hardware key.
The steps will be similar Configure C:\PTW32\bin\nethasp.ini with your computers IPV4 address or the loopback address 127.0.0.1.
